Hedone began as an exploration of beauty but became a meditation on transformation.
Inspired by centuries of art, mythology, and the human search for connection, the design follows the journey of Psyche and Eros (Cupid). A story not of perfect love, but of love tested.
Through beauty, uncertainty, loss, and renewal, Psyche discovers that devotion is not built through admiration alone.
It is built through honesty.
The Myth of Psyche
In Greek mythology, Psyche was a mortal woman whose beauty became so extraordinary that people began worshipping her instead of Venus, the goddess of love. Yet beneath the admiration was isolation. Psyche was loved for her appearance, but not truly known. Her beauty becomes both her gift and her burden. This became the first question behind Hedone:
What remains when beauty alone is no longer enough?
The Illusion of Love
Venus, threatened by Psyche’s beauty, commanded her son Cupid to punish the mortal woman. Instead, Cupid became captivated by Psyche himself.
Their first encounter existed in secrecy and fantasy. Psyche was taken to a hidden palace, where she lived surrounded by beauty and luxury, yet she was forbidden to see Cupid’s true form. She was loved, but she did not know who loved her. He desired her beauty, but he had not yet revealed his truth.
Their connection existed within enchantment, but enchantment alone could not create lasting love.
The Breaking Point
Unable to love forever in uncertainty, Psyche sought the truth.
One night, she lit a lamp to see Cupid while he slept. In that moment, she discovered
his true identity, but the act of seeking truth broke the trust between them.
Cupid awoke and left.
Their first love, built on mystery and idealization, could not survive without honesty.
This moment became the turning point.
Not the end of their love but the beginning of their transformation.
The Trials of Psyche
After their separation, Psyche was forced to confront a series of impossible trials. Each challenge demanded something deeper than beauty. She needed: Patience, wisdom, humility, and courage. Through suffering, Psyche transformed.
She was no longer simply the beautiful woman admired by others. She became someone who understood herself.
Love Reborn
Only after Psyche completed her transformation could she and Eros reunite. Their love is no longer based on fantasy. It survived separation. It had endured uncertainty. It had been tested. Their story reveals a timeless truth:
Infatuation is inspired by what we see. Love is sustained by what we discover.
Every element of the ring was created as a reflection of Psyche’s journey.
